Vader (Happy Tail)

Vader

Vader

Hi Teri,

I wanted to give you an update on Vader's adoption. He slept through the entire car ride home, and so far he has been the absolute most chill dog ever. I can't get over how very good he is. It pains me to see "unwanted" on his intake form, because he is just a wonderful dog. He has already relaxed into our home and routine, loves going for walks, but otherwise prefers being inside in the air conditioning (a dog after my own heart, lol). He doesn't bark at noises or people passing by, just so very chill.

We've bought him some chew toys, squeaky toys, and a tug-of-war toy, and he enjoys them all, but is not the least destructive so far as we can tell. I think he probably did get yelled at for potty mistakes and getting in the trash. He had diarrhea in the middle of the night the first night he was here, and it was clear that he expected to be yelled at for that, which was sad to see. Other than that, he has had no issues and seems fully housetrained. He does show a lot of interest in the trash, so I suspect he got in trouble for that too, but ours is in the cupboard, so no worries there.

Everyone is getting along beautifully. He does show a lot of interest in the cats, but they are used to big dogs, so it hasn't been an issue at all, and he is just super sweet and playful, not scary. I am sending a picture of him playing with John, who is a dog whisperer and very playful with pups, so I never had any worries about him maintaining his fear of men with regards to him. At this point, each of the kids has taken him for at least one walk, and he is always happy to see and greet everyone. I think he already trusts that no one is going to yell at him here.

Anyway, thanks so much for giving us an opportunity to meet him. He is such a welcome new member of our family!
